The Lawns Business Centre is marking a very special 25-year anniversary this year.
Initially, home to Glen Bank Photography and owner, John Brightmore, the attractive former NHS property, built in the late 1930's, was adapted to accommodate a photographic studio and other associated offices for rental to small businesses.
Since the first rental in 2001, 58 businesses have operated from the various units within, offering 1 to 5 person offices, all tenants enjoying their time and developing their businesses in this landmark building at the top of Hinckley’s Castle Street. Being located on the edge of the town centre, with all its shops, eateries and banks, and Argents Mead close by, it has proved a great spot for businesses to work from.
Over the years, and as the Glen Bank Photography business scaled down due to the growth of its location photography, the studio area was split into smaller offices, making room for more new businesses.
Today, ten businesses are operating from The Lawns, offering a whole range of services. From Fine Art print making, art classes and courses, coaching and training in Agile product development and business agility, to independent Counsellors and Therapists offering one to one help, financial advisors, and even a recruitment agency and civil engineering firm.
Since retiring from photography in recent years, John has continued to look after The Lawns and, most recently, has project managed a renovation of the building. Working with Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council via the Heritage Building Improvement Grant, The Lawns Business Centre received a grant from the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The grant aided the rebuilding of brick pillars and a wall damaged by protected trees, brickwork cleaning and the reinstatement of iron railings and gates that were removed during the war years.
After twenty-five successful years, the building we know and love as The Lawns Business Centre has never looked better!
John would like to thank all of those involved in the recent renovations, especially Paul Grundy at HBBC, Richard Humphreys at Leicester Proclean, Martyn Lloyd at Stately Fabrications and D. Gunn Brickwork.
