Grade 4, £20,092 up to £23,080 per annum pro rata

25 hours per week - Monday to Friday12 month fixed term contract

We are looking for a positive and self-motivated person to join our small Democratic Services team. You should have good organisational skills and be able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken language and have experience in meetings administration in a local authority or similar environment.

In this varied role you will support the decision making processes of the council including preparing agendas, attending meetings, ensuring decisions are taken in accordance with the council’s constitution and relevant legislation and providing support and advice to councillors.

You will support the council’s formal complaints procedure, liaising with service areas, members of the public and the Local Government & Social Care Ombudsman. You will also provide support for the Mayor’s Secretary in organising and attending civic events.

Attendance at evening meetings and occasional weekend civic events will be required, for which time off in lieu is provided.

The successful candidate will be supported with training and membership of the Association of Democratic Services Officers.

We are looking to employ a Senior Level Enforcement Officer on Grade 7 to reflect the complex nature of work the post holder will be expected to undertake.

Keeping our neighbourhoods clean and tidy is the number one priority for the residents of our Borough. The Clean Neighbourhoods Service’s purpose is to ensure “Hinckley and Bosworth is a place with clean, tidy and litter free neighbourhoods where everyone takes responsibility for their waste and the surrounding environment”.

Start and finish times will vary between 6.30am/9:15am – 2.30pm/5:15pm depending on your cleansing team, however flexibility is essential as you will be required to switch between teams when needed which may include weekend working.

The Street Cleaner position will, amongst other duties:

  • Effectively contribute to the overall success of Business, Contract and Street Scene Services
  • Undertake cleansing duties and other supported duties within the overall service
  • Work in accordance with relevant legislation, our agreed procedures and defined cleansing standards

Working as part of a mobile team you will carry out all aspects of gardening, grounds maintenance and other horticultural tasks at a number of sites throughout the borough and working in an outdoor environment all year round.

Duties include:

  • General gardening duties such as maintenance of flower beds, digging, grass cutting, hedge cutting, forking, hoeing, hand weeding bedding, bulbs and shrubs etc…
  • Use of horticultural and grass cutting machinery
  • Hard and soft landscaping work; desirable criteria includes experience of fencing, paving and the application of pesticides

This is an exciting time to join the Housing Options service. The Homelessness Reduction Act has given an opportunity for the service to build on the excellent results already seen around Homelessness prevention.

We are looking for a knowledgeable and dedicated officer to join our team who can draw on proven experience supporting customers in a busy front line service and conducting interviews in stressful situations. A skilled negotiator who is persuasive in challenging situations, you will have a working knowledge of housing/homelessness legislation, welfare benefit reforms, rent arrears procedures, private sector housing issues and be able to make decisions applying and interpreting complex legislation as well as local policy.

You will have the ability to handle a large and complex workload offering professional advice on a range of housing options to potentially homeless customers, working with them to resolve their housing situation and preventing homelessness whenever possible by using the right tools and advice for each case, across a wide spectrum of tenures.

The role includes carrying out interviews, home visits, and liaison with other agencies, carrying out negotiations, agreeing and monitoring personal housing plans, interpreting complex information in order to issue a written decision letter, in addition to arranging temporary or permanent accommodation for customers facing homelessness.

Travel around the borough for the role is required and you must be able to participate in the out of hours service.

You will need to evidence your experience of being able to work autonomously in finding solutions for those you are supporting, as well as working effectively as part of a team.

You will also need to demonstrate your ability to develop effectively working relationships with a range of key partners and support agencies. You should also have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs which includes Word, Excel and Outlook and have the flexibility needed to conduct some out of hours working.
