Prost! Get Ready for Hinckley's First Oktoberfest!
|
Dust off your dirndls and prep your lederhosen, because an exciting first is just around the corner! Hinckley BID, in collaboration with the teams at The Clarence, Baton Rouge and many more of our great hospitality businesses, is delighted to bring Hinckley's first-ever Oktoberfest to Regent Street. Join us on Saturday, 11th October, from 2pm to 10pm, for a day of festivities right in the heart of our town centre. What to Expect... Live Music: There will be two areas for live entertainment. Enjoy a fantastic line-up of music, with stages hosted by The Clarence and Baton Rouge. Delicious Food: A variety of street food vendors offering traditional German delights and local treats from resident businesses. Bars: Raise a glass of authentic German beer or try a refreshing gin or cocktail from one of the many bars. Buzzing Atmosphere: Bring your friends, grab a chair, and get ready for a memorable day. Please come along and join the Fun! There will be a prize for the best Oktoberfest themed fancydress. This is a FREE-TO-ATTEND event, so everyone is welcome! Regent Street will be closed to traffic, so there will be plenty of room for all the food, music, and merriment. Make sure to save the date, Saturday, 11th October, and prepare for Hinckley's very first Oktoberfest!

Hinckley & District Museum, Garden and Tearoom

OPEN in 2025 from Easter Saturday, 19th April, to Monday 27th October, on Saturdays and Mondays (including Bank Holiday Mondays), Times: 10am to 4pm (last admission 3.30pm). Admission: Adults £4 / Children 5+ £1 (Summer event days £2) Free to Friends of the Museum on production of a 2025 membership card Minimum charge for group visits by prior arrangement is £30.00 This iconic building is managed and staffed entirely by volunteers, and is operated by Hinckley and District Museum which is a registered charity (no. 1015922). The museum cottages are the most complete example of half-timbered buildings remaining in Hinckley and date from the seventeenth century, being originally built as a farmhouse. They are of box-frame construction with a tie-beam roof, with brick infill panels of the late 1700s which replaced the original wattle and daub. By the nineteenth century there were three cottages, and these were bought by Colonel Clive Atkins in 1919 and restored and altered to their present appearance between 1927-8. Photography competition exhibition display. Underwater photographer of the year is an annual competition, based in the UK, that celebrates photography beneath the surface of the ocean, lakes, rivers and even swimming pools, and attracts entries from all around the world. The 2024 collection including the winning images will be on display in Atkins Gallery with activities for children in the half term. A new play by Red River Theatre to celebrate the life of Ada Lovelace. Also runs on 11 October at 2pm & 5pm. Ada Lovelace, throughout her life, has a number of conversations with her long dead father, Lord Byron. In these we learn of her life, her hopes and dreams, and meet the people who helped her shape the world to come - Charles Babbage, Lord King and others. Entry Fee: Whatever you can afford. £10 suggested.

Hinckley BID and The Clarence are pleased to introduce Hinckley's first Oktoberfest in association with Baton Rouge, Moko, Don Fenticas, Electric Chapel and other hospitality businesses in Regent Street. This German themed beer festival will feature two stages of Live Music, Street Food Vendors with Local Pop-Up Bars. Lots of businesses are taking part from all over the town! Please note, a Road Closure will be in place on Regent Street from 10am to midnight. Limited space is available for food vendors, stall holders, and musicians. This FUN & FREE trail will lead participants to discover some of the newest venues in town. Children who successfully complete the trail will be entered into a Treasure Prize Draw to WIN hundreds of pounds worth of prizes which have been generously donated by town centre businesses.
