Much to the delight of cheerleaders everywhere, the World Cheerleading Championships were finally back for 2022 and took place last month in Florida. There had been a huge three year absence due to the pandemic.

So, athletes from TKT Cheerleading in Hinckley were even more excited than usual to be part of this year's competition, and they certainly enjoyed much success.

Amelia Hayashida was a member of Team England Senior All-Girl, placing 7th in the World. Amelia says, "it was a privilege to cheer for my country". Amelia was also on a Worlds Allstar team called Steel, and they also placed 7th out of over one hundred teams. What a fantastic achievement!

Leah Sharp, at age 12, became a World Champion with Team England Youth. She was so excited to be part of this, and what an experience for her at such a young age.

Lexie Deer placed 2nd with the Worlds Team C-lebreties. Sophia Michiko, placed 6th with the Worlds Team Voodoo and Emmie Deer placed 7th with Worlds Team Killer Queens.

Tracy Tomkins, Head Coach at TKT Cheerleading, said "I am so proud of the achievements of my athletes this year, they certainly did me proud and what a great experience for them all".

Well done to all the athletes on their great performances and well done to TKT Cheerleading for putting Hinckley on the map in Florida, USA!
