Visitors can look forward to fresh displays, hands‑on experiences, and a warm welcome from the dedicated volunteer team who recently achieved a 100% rating from Visit England.

New Exhibitions for 2026
This year’s programme introduces a range of engaging displays, including:
•     The English Civil War – a new feature offering a taste of 17th‑century life.
•     100 Years of Hinckley Rotarians – celebrating a century of community service.
•     Footwear Heritage – showcasing ballet shoes crafted by Earl Shilton‑based   Suffolk Pointe.

Living History and Local Craft
The museum’s ongoing exhibitions bring Hinckley’s industrial past to life, especially its renowned knitting and hosiery heritage. Volunteers have restored historic knitting machines to working order, offering live demonstrations—and even the chance for visitors to try the machines themselves.

One of the museum’s key volunteers, John Chinn, was recently honoured with a Making a Difference Award for his outstanding contribution to preserving local history.

A Volunteer‑Led Success Story
Entirely run by volunteers, the museum highlights the industries that shaped Hinckley’s national reputation, from knitwear to boot and shoe manufacturing. The team also received a Making a Difference Award at the town’s recent ceremony, recognising their commitment to creating an inviting and informative attraction.

Talks, Tea, and a Secret Garden
Throughout the season, a programme of fascinating talks will take place at the Great Meeting Chapel on Baines Lane. Visitors can also enjoy the museum’s charming secret garden, filled with cottage‑style blooms, and relax with homemade cake and a cuppa in the cosy tea room.
