Summer of Fun Continues

Lots more still to come

Since the school holidays began, we have hosted our Wednesday Summer of Fun events weekly. Lenny the Land Train has been ferrying passengers up and down Castle Street and Crazy Golf was back at the Crescent. In addition, children have enjoyed a day of 'beach' themed 'Make and Take' activities alongside a Treasure Hunt around town (winners announced below), and of course, our Circus Skills workshop.

The fun doesn't end there. HBBC's Snap Dragon Family Festival is happening NOW, between 4th to 6th August in Argents Mead. This is promptly followed by the incredibly popular 'Feast' Festival, also in Argents Mead, over the weekend of 7th, 8th August.

There are still lots more events to look forward to, so please visit our BID Events page for all the details, or follow our BID Facebook page for up to the minute information.

NWSLC Apprenticeship Opportunities

and access to a Community Skills Hub

Businesses across Leicestershire are working with North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College (NWSLC) to find talented individuals to join their teams as the economy starts to recover in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

NWSLC is currently advertising around 26 vacancies based in the county for businesses looking to recruit apprentices in accounting, hairdressing, logistics, engineering, retail and hospitality. Katy Urwin, Director for Apprenticeships at NWSLC said, “There are signs of economic recovery within the regional markets we support which represents a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to kickstart new careers and retrain in growth sectors after a challenging period.

“Colleges are leading the way to help reenergise the UK economy and NWSLC is in a great position to make links between organisations that need skills and individuals looking for work, whether they are starting out for the first time, retraining to follow a new direction, or seeking support following redundancy. It is our mission to introduce skilled and work-ready individuals to employers across the region.”

NWSLC responded to the Government’s ‘Plan for Jobs’ by launching its Community Skills Hub last year to provide access to all the information, advice and guidance that is available to support economic recovery following the coronavirus pandemic.
