I am sure that you are as relieved as we are that the Government has announced that Step 4 is expected to begin on Monday the 19th of July if the Government’s “four tests” for easing COVID restrictions have been met. This will be confirmed on Monday the 12th of July following a review of the latest data.

At Step 4, the Government will remove outstanding legal restrictions on social contact, live events, and open the remaining closed settings. The Government will instead enable people and businesses to make informed decisions about how to manage the risk to themselves and others.

This means that at Step 4:

• All remaining limits on social contact will be removed and there will be no more restrictions on how many people can meet in any setting, indoors or outdoors.
• All settings will be able to open, including nightclubs.
• Large events, such as music concerts and sporting events can resume without any limits on attendance or social distancing requirements.
• The legal requirements to wear a face covering will be lifted in all settings.
• Social distancing rules will be lifted.
• Businesses will be encouraged to display QR codes for customers to check in using the NHS COVID-19 app, although it will no longer be a legal requirement.
• It is no longer necessary for the Government to instruct people to work from home and employers can start to plan a return to workplaces.

From Monday 12th July, the BID will have NHS Antigen Lateral Flow Testing Kits available free to all BID members businesses. Boxes of these, each containing 7 tests, will be available for collection from the BID Office on Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th July. If you find the door is locked, please call Steve on 0770 939 4841 and one of us will shoot back from wherever we are in Hinckley Town centre.

We have received approval to proceed with our FREE BID Events starting next week – Wednesday 14th July will see the Little Train ferrying mainly children up and down Castle St and at the same time there will be Crazy Golf at The Crescent. Please note there is a Road Closure in place for the Little Train on Castle St, and Market Place.

No deliveries/collections will be allowed.

On Thursday 15th July we have our first ‘casual Classic Vehicle Evening Meet’ 5.00pm to 8.30pm and because of Covid we are restricting entries to pre-registered only - around 60 vehicles have registered. Please note there is a Road Closure in place for this evening meet in Castle St, Market Place and the Borough (in place from 4.00pm until 9.00pm).

There is another free ‘casual Classic vehicle Evening Meet’ scheduled for Thursday August 19th and the main FREE Hinckley BID Motorshow is on Sunday September 19th with 350+ vehicles already entered and a host of support entertainment to suit all the family.

In a normal year, our events have driven up to 100,000 additional people into Hinckley and we hope that they will come again this year. Please help us by spreading the word.

In the past few months we have received applications for an additional 400+ BID Loyalty cards taking the total issued to 8558. There are some 70 Town centre businesses currently making an Offer and if you would like to join them please email martina@hinckleybid.co.uk There is no BID charge.

An ‘Offer’ could be a discount, a 2 for 1 or anything specific so that the cardholder feels that their Loyalty is rewarded.
