ABOUT US
In 1947 Johnsons started trading as a traditional Draper’s shop. It has continued in the same family and over the following seven decades it has evolved into a successful lingerie business – winning Drapers Record Lingerie Retailer of the Year award and in 2019 became a commended finalist in the Best UK Small Shop Awards. Twice relocating into larger premises on the same pedestrianised street, expansion into ladies’ clothing followed. A transactional website was established in 2000 – The Lingerie Company – which was listed as one of the top five lingerie websites by The Daily Telegraph. Recently the website has been given a makeover to be mobile phone friendly as over 90% of people now use these for internet shopping.
OUR SHOP
For over 70 years the Johnsons family has given high levels of customer service and gained a wealth of knowledge in the lingerie and ladieswear business. We specialise in bra fitting – stocking a wide range of sizes in top lingerie brands including Triumph, Fantasie, Freya, Aubade, Royce, Rosy, Bestform, Berlei plus many more. Orders are taken in the shop if a size or item is out of stock, for fast delivery.
Ladies’ clothing brands are the very popular Weired Fish, Adini, Emreco, Pomodoro, Alice Collins, Lily and Me. New brands being introduced include Lighthouse waterproof coats and Mistral casual clothing. Scarves, hats and gloves from Dents and Weird Fish. Nightwear and swimwear is also available in the shop.
Al ages are catered for – from teenage (for first bras – to long standing customers now in their 90’s).
