Hinckley Soap Box Derby 2011
Following the huge success of last year’s event on Castle St, Hinckley BID has now finalised the Rules and Regulations for the 2nd Hinckley BID Soap Box Derby which will take place on Castle Street, Hinckley on Sunday July 3rd.
Open to all from age 12 to 70, the Hinckley BID Soap Box Derby is intended as an annual fun day for teams, supporters and spectators from the Hinckley area, and beyond.
The aim is to encourage up to 40 Soap Box Teams to build a soap-box and compete and for newcomers, some technical advice is available.
The idea is to utilise the natural hill on Castle Street for individual ‘Time-Trial’ performances – 2 (maybe 3) runs per Team. The course will start from the Church Walk junction and end in Market Square. ‘Themed’ Soap Boxes are especially encouraged since they provide the most interest to spectators.
Although a small Entry fee is required (per team) to help cover costs, this event is also subsidised by the Hinckley Town Centre Partnership.
Prizes will be awarded to competitors in recognition of their dedication to the day.
