Jonathan White, Manager of Hinckley BID since its inception in 2007, is moving on to pursue a new career opportunity from June 3rd.
Hinckley Business Improvement District began in 2009. There were some 70 BIDS throughout the UK then, 250+ now. Hinckley was the first in Leicestershire, followed some years later by Loughborough and Melton Mowbray, and with others currently under consideration. In 2014 the BID secured a 2nd 5 year term.
Under Jo...nathan’s stewardship the BID has delivered a number of successful initiatives in support of its members - the business community of Hinckley town centre. These include the Hinckley Loyalty Card now with over 5500 signed up members, popular events including the Pancake Race, Soap Box Derby, Classic Motor show and Summer of fun and has received national recognition from the Minister for Local Government for its pathfinding work on its Digital High street project, with Hinckley becoming the first town in the UK to install free public access Wi-Fi with an integrated marketing solution. Jonathan has also played a critical role working with HBBC and LCC to reach agreement for the re-opening of Regent Street to two way traffic in support of the businesses of Hinckley Town Centre.
Jonathan said, ‘I have enjoyed working with the businesses of Hinckley town centre over the past 9 years and thank them for their support. I am proud of the initiatives that the BID has introduced during my time in charge and despite difficult trading conditions that have seen the face of our High Street change forever hope that the work we have done has gone some way in making Hinckley Town Centre a place where local people want to work, do business and socialise. I will continue to be involved with the BID as a Board Director and look forward to providing my continued support to Steve and the Board. Id also like to thank the community of Hinckley for their support over the past 9 years.
Ian Daniels, Chair of the Hinckley Town Centre Partnership Ltd who administer Hinckley BID said
“I take this opportunity of thanking Jonathan for all his hard work. He would have been very much missed, but I am pleased to say he has agreed to take a position on the Board. That, together with the appointment of Steve Wegerif (Jonathan’s deputy for many years) as BID Manager will ensure the BID will continue to go from strength to strength”
Steve Wegerif, who has assisted Jonathan for the past 7 years on many of the projects, has been elected by the Board to take over as BID Manager.
