HINCKLEY MOTORSHOW FILLS THE TOWN

Posted on Wednesday 28 September 2011 in the '' category

More than 200 Classic vehicle enthusiasts from all over the midlands filled Hinckley Town Centre on Sunday to show off their beautiful and carefully restored machines.

Organised by the Hinckley Town Centre Partnership BID as part of their Keep Business Local campaign - this first ever Hinckley Classic Motor Show comprised cars, lorries, bikes and scooters and even a working steam engine, double-decker bus and 1916 Tractor– all of which were much appreciated by the crowds of families who came in to Hinckley to enjoy the day.

Although a very difficult decision, the judges finally award the 3 prizes for the ‘Best Turned Out’ vehicles:

  • First Prize went to Geoff and Jean Hamblin from East Goscote for their 1934 Morris 16 Oxford
  • Second prize to Martin Johnson-Howe from Lutterworth for his 1935 Triumph Gloria
  • Third prize to Lee Pope from Barwell for his 1951 Jaguar XKR

One of the many compliments  paid to the organisers was from an entrant who e-mailed ‘Myself and a friend took our cars to the show not really knowing what it was going to be like, well, once we got there we were amazed with the turnout of people and cars and the day just got better as it went on! The atmosphere was exceptional, the stewards were most polite and willing to help, right down to the united reformed church giving out FREE refreshments !!! Cant wait till next year !!

This NEW annual event, like others put on by Hinckley Town Centre Partnership BID including the increasingly popular Soap Box derby and Pancake Race has again proved a winner, with families in their hundreds coming in to show their support for local businesses.

HTCP-BID are grateful to the Sponsors of this event – SIMPLY BATHROOMS,

PAYNES OF HINCKLEY, DAVE CLARKE PLUMBING AND HEATING,  PAULL’S VEHICLE RENTAL  AND STUART PLUMBING AND HEATING SUPPLIES
